Yusuf Eihon (ユスフ・エイホン Yusufu Eihon?) is Seleke's husband.

Appearance[]

Yusuf has black, short cropped hair, which is mostly covered under an embroidered tubeteika. He wears a plain tunic and pants (most likely made out of cotton) as his innerwear, which are then layered with chapan and tied with a sash. His footwear also appears to be double layered, with his pants tucked into boots with soft soles (makshi), which he then slipped into plain black half opened shoes that resemble a pair of kavush. During winter, Yusuf wears a thicker chapan with more visible stripes and also thicker boots.

Personality[]

Yusuf is shown to be reliable and good at reading the moods of those around him, however he can also be blunt and outspoken if need be. The latter occasionally lands him into conflicts with his wife who believes he should practice more tact when handling certain situations.

Yusuf is calmer when dealing with his rumbustious children in contrast to Seleke, but he can also be firm by ensuring that whatever disciplinary actions taken when they misbehave are carried through to the end.

Plot[]

Not much is known about his life prior to his marriage with Seleke, though he appears to be a local of the village because his father also resides in the same area. Unlike most of the village's couples which appear to be patrilocal, Yusuf marries into Seleke's family and is currently living together with the Eihon family. He is responsible for the family's business and often travels to other areas for trading of goods and livestock.

As expected from the men in the village, Yusuf partakes in all of their communal tasks, such as guarding the safety and security of the villagers, fighting against invaders and warmongers and rebuilding damaged properties.

Relationships[]

Seleke Eihon[]

Although they share a normal amount of marital conflicts, Yusuf is loving towards his wife, buying gifts for her whenever he travels and is quick to apologise when he is in the wrong. He also gives most of the authority in raising their children towards Seleke and generally supports most of her decisions.

Tileke, Torkan, Chalg and Rostem[]

Yusuf is gentle with his children, often abiding to their whims and requests. As mentioned in his personality, he is also quick at reading their emotions and can be seen consoling them when they get upset. However, he can also be a strict parent who always ensures they carry their duties in the family and show proper manners to the elders around them.

Karluk Eihon[]

Yusuf acts almost like a big brother-figure for Karluk and displays frequent concerns for his well-being. He also helps Karluk articulates his frustration and insecurities with his marriage to Amir, and usually comes to his defense whenever Karluk gets into a disagreement with the Eihon family members. Recently he is shown to be coaching Karluk in archery, although he admits his own archery skill is not exactly up to par.

Azel Halgal[]

Despite being brothers-in-law, their first encounter was rife with tensions with Azel forcefully storming into the Eihon family house in an attempt to extract Amir which immediately prompted Yusuf to stop him in his tracks, so naturally they hold a certain amount of animosity towards each other. This enmity carries through Azel's second attempt to invade his house, where they end up in a brawl again. However, Azel also saves Yusuf's life during the Halgal-Batan invasion, which Yusuf begrudgingly admits to the villagers' head to defend Azel and save his life in return. It is implied that they are in a more cordial term later on, as Yusuf even brings his daughter for a visit to Azel's residence.
