Bekhe Jahan, originally from the Yandaq tribe, becomes part of the Halgals through her marriage to Azel Halgal.
Appearance[]
Bekhe is the average height for a woman. In her first appearance, she wears her long, black hair in multiple braids under a hat with jewelry coming out from under her hat and framing the sides of her face. Bekhe dresses similarly as a woman of the steppes does in thick clothing.
Personality[]
Bekhe has a serious disposition with a fierce personality. She is skilled with horse-riding, the sword, and the bow and arrow. Bekhe is also clever as shown when she destroys three of the four arrows during the race and grabs the final one for herself. Her valor and capabilities lead to Azel to choose her as his bride.
Plot[]
Bekhe is first shown as one of the participants of the horse race hosted by her father, Jahan of the Yandaq tribe, for Azel to prove his worth and gain a bride. The condition of the race had been for participants to race to a tree with four arrows in its trunk with a red cloth tied to each. During the race Bekhe is able to cut through an arrow Azel had pulled from a trunk and she shoots the other two arrows in the sky before taking the final one for herself. Bekhe presents a challenge to Azel to catch the final arrow and prove his worth as a man of the steppes. As the two race Bekhe attempts to attack Azel every time he reaches for the arrow she has. In the end Azel is able to use his strength to lift Bekhe herself off of her horse and throw her over his shoulder. As Azel crosses the finish line on his horse while holding Bekhe who has the arrow in her mouth, Azel wins the race. When Jahan asks Azel to choose a bride for himself, Azel first asks Jahan for permission for Joruk and Baimat to choose brides for themselves. Afterwards, Azel chooses Bekhe for himself. Bekhe and Azel marry soon after.
Relationships[]
Azel Halgal[]
Bekhe first meets Azel as an opponent of the horse race hosted by her father for Azel to prove his worth. After Azel wins the race, Jahan asks for Azel to choose a bride for himself. Azel chooses Bekhe as his bride. When Bekhe asks why, Azel responds by saying that Bekhe's valor is unmatched. The two marry soon afterwards. On their wedding night Bekhe tells Azel that she would have ignored her father's wish for whom she would marry if her groom had not been a real man. When Azel affirms that he is ready to fight against the Russians if they invade the steppes, Bekhe tells Azel that she will not sit in her tent and become a widow by sitting on the sidelines. Instead, she will fight by Azel's side to defeat as many enemies as possible.
