Summary |

In Turkic Central Asia, during the 19th century, a young woman named Amir Halgal is wedded to Karluk Eihon, a boy who is eight years younger than herself. Originally from a nomadic tribe, Amir has to struggle with her new family's traditions and expectations. While adapting to her new environment, she meets various people who live in the village and finds a friend in a young girl named Pariya. Unaware to them all is the fact that Amir's family wants her returned, and they'll do anything to get her back.
The story generally follows Amir's life with Karluk and her in-laws, but other young brides and their families get some time in the spotlight as well. |
